I really enjoyed learning about your faith. As a Christian, I rarely get the opportunity to learn about the Muslim faith without the ugliness of the extremists overshadowing the beautiful parts. Thank you for sharing so I can have a better understanding.
Thank you, I can't tell you how happy reading your comment made me. This was the entire point of my post, to show that things are so different than what's portrayed on mainstream media. At the end of the day, us Muslims are also just regular people.
There are extremists in all faiths, not just yours. There is extremism in each side of the political world as well. The vast majority of people are somewhere in the middle. We all need to stop allowing the media to divide us because we have more in common than we have differences.
Thankyou Wajeeha for sharing your faith, your heart. My heart wants to live in an undivided world, if we could only realise all hearts beat the same we all bleed red. Sharing our true selves is an act of rebellion as we show the world what we stand for we'll begin to see that ultimately we are all seeking the same.
Wajeeha... It was so warm listening to you after so long. Plus I guess Allah Taala made me hear your words when I needed this reminder the most. The last part that Tawakul is the greatest gift of Allah... It made me think about all my worries from a different angle now. Everything about this post felt a direct invite from Allah to read it so that I can learn to trust Allah.
What more can I say that can do justice to this post.
Hello Yemsheen! Long time, I missed seeing your posts and comments. Hope all is well with you. So glad to have you back on Substack. I'm glad you enjoyed this post, I look forward to staying in touch with you! ❤️
Ramadan Kareem! Wajeeha, Sorry for being a little late to read this, but I truly loved your post. Your words beautifully capture the essence of this blessed month. Wishing you a Ramadan filled with peace, joy, and countless blessings!
Beautiful reflection! I too grew up with the taunts of punishments but when I started learning about Islam for myself as an adult, I realized how loving Allah was and everything He advises us to do comes from a place of great love and wisdom. The more I learn about the world and Islam the more I find peace in tawakkul and religious practices.
Thank you Leena, I agree with you that the narrative should be changed. I'm trying to change it with my children, I don't want it to be a fear based relationship for them.
This was a fascinating read! Although I'm not Muslim myself, I've set a goal to explore every spiritual beliefs in the world and this short glimpse into the world of Allah was so warm and welcoming.
I think no matter how we call him/it, it's just love in its purest form. And learning how to love takes a lot of effort. Especially meditation and prayer. These are the moments we connect with that higher power.
I love how you're on a journey to learn about different belief systems in the world. I'm glad I was able to do my little share in this journey of yours! Thank you so much for the wishes. :)
Just Beautiful .. I could feel every word you have written. The relationship with Allah is something you cannot have with anyone else.. and the beauty is that once you return to Him in any manner, He will make you feel as you are the most special one, most loved one
I believe miracles happen in every person's life, it's just that not everyone got the eye to recognize them, to acknowledge them..
May Allah bless us with complete Eman and with taufeeq to follow sirat e mustaqeem and to be among the guided ones..
Yes I agree Sana, there are so many miracles in our lives that we don't realize or see. But they do exist. Wishing you a wonderful Ramadan, may Allah accept all our fasts. Ameen Sumameen.
Thank you for this explanation, this testimony of how your faith strengthens you.
I am of Christian faith, but I actually believe we all share the same Creator. I am a proud member of a non-denominational church that does not dictate only one way to believe. I respect your faith and you.
Thank you Rose, first of all for reading, and for taking the time to trying to understand my faith. We all should respect each others' belief systems, and give everyone their space in this world. I'm so glad to have connected with you through Substack, Rose!
Thank you, Wajeeha, my favourite part. “As Ramadan begins, my only wish for this month is that it brings love and peace to you. This is your chance to build a strong relationship with our Creator, and feel His love. He certainly loves you, even if you think it’s not evident. I am sure of this. You just have to reach out to Him.” 💕
Beautiful article MashaAllah! I am so happy to see the journey you have taken - one that led you not just back to your identity, but to a deeper, more personal relationship with Allah. The honesty with which you share your struggles, the longing to fit in, and the realization that distancing yourself from faith only deepened the emptiness is both powerful and deeply relatable. What makes your journey so special is that it wasn’t just a return to practice but a discovery of love, a recognition that Allah was always near, answering even the prayers you were too hesitant to say. That shift is indeed transformative, and I can’t help but admire how beautifully you’ve captured it. Alhamdulillah!
Even for those who do not share your faith, I think they can find something profoundly universal in your words. The longing for peace, the desire for deeper meaning, the search for something greater than oneself… these are all questions that every human wrestles with. The gifts of Tahajjud, Laylatul Qadr, and Tawakkul that you highlight are not abstract concepts but lived experiences, tangible ways in which faith nurtures the soul. If we think about it, whether Muslim or not, who wouldn’t want the peace of surrendering their worries, the comfort of knowing they are never alone, or the hope of a night that offers a new beginning? Alhamdulillah you’ve given your faith a voice that is not just inviting but deeply reassuring, and that is MashaAllah a rare and beautiful thing.
Thank you so much for such a heartfelt comment Iqra. You're always so supportive of my work, and I always enjoy hearing your analysis regarding my work. It can be hard talking so openly about my journey regarding my faith, but with readers like you I don't think I need to be afraid at all. Thank you so much for reading Enchanted Letters! 💕
I love the timing of your newsletter reading it in bed on a weekend is the perfect dose of words one needs. This particular edition, just before Ramadan, was especially heartfelt. I can’t imagine the courage it takes to share such personal and vulnerable moments with us. That’s truly brave. It’s also a reflection of the strength you’ve gained, which I believe comes from being closer to Allah and understanding that the world and His creations are secondary. I feel you strengthen yourself by being honest with yourself and I see that writing it all down really help! Ramadan kareem to you. May you achieve your spiritual goals this Ramadan and gather all the blessings 🙌🏻
Thank you for always reading my work, and leaving such profound thoughts in your comments Shazmeera. Honestly, it's daunting to share so openly my experience with my faith, but even if one person takes something away from my words, I'll have done my job. As always I really appreciate you being here! 💕

Exactly, and I think a lot of us can do our small part by raising awareness in some way or the other.
